Despite the cantankerous winds and chilly forecast Sunday I got out for a road ride into our western counterpart. The route; North from Bayse, over wolf gap, south through trout pond and back over Shenandoah mountain into Bayse. A fun ride on rural roads made of pavement and gravel with more than an adequate dose of ascending.
The fall time is always a time of exploration for me, going on rides to my favorite remote places and taking the paths seldom traveled. This ride was nothing short of back country with mostly line-less roads. In the warmer months the roads here are a road bike heaven, however with winter approaching a lot of these good gravel grinds become a fat tire endeavor leaving the skinny tires for more maintained roads.
