Summer is a pretty busy time at the shop, and it's also peak mountain bike race season. I've done a handful of fun mountain bike races this summer, Shenandoah Mountain Touring's Stoopid 50, which has a wicked fun course up in Pennsylvania, the Raccoon Rally in New York, which I won, and the Patapsco 100 in Maryland, which was a 100 mile, 95 degree day that entailed about 11 hours of riding for my 5th place finish.
Those were all fun events in their own ways, but on the 4th of July I went on a really fun dirt road ride up on Shenandoah Mountain. A few people still live up on the mountain, but since most of it became national forest there are more remnants of the mountaintop life. It was a really nice day, not too warm, but clear and breezy. Pure fun up on the old mountain road!
